You might have heard it before. You lock your problems, hurt and trauma away in a box in the loft and try to forget it's there. When mental health hits you, it is sometimes because you locked the trauma away in that metaphoric box in the loft that is your mind. Those boxes start to leak into your daily thoughts, and the longer you leave before dealing with them, the harder it is to fix them.
Someone with good mental health might face the problems head-on. Someone with bad mental health might pretend it's not there and try to move on.
The idea of Empty Boxes is to always have a community and support team to listen, help and support.
No trauma, hurt or problem needs to go into a box... Ever!
At Empty Boxes, we believe that everyone deserves to experience the joy of good mental health. Our mission is to not only prevent mental health challenges but also to nurture and protect positive mental well-being for all.
**The Power of Community**
Think about the moments that make you smile—those times spent with friends, family, or even like-minded individuals who share your passions. Strong community ties are vital for a fulfilling life. Studies show that people who cultivate connections with others enjoy deeper happiness, better physical health, and live longer, healthier lives. Conversely, isolation can weigh heavily on our mental health.
Communities provide a sense of belonging, security, and support during life’s toughest moments. They give us purpose and a shared experience.
**What Does Community Mean to You?**
Communities come in many shapes and sizes, and you might belong to several at once! Whether it be your local neighborhood, a group of friends who share your values, colleagues at work, or fellow hobby enthusiasts, communities are formed through shared interests or characteristics. You may find your tribe at school, in spiritual gatherings, at advocacy clubs, or even through online gaming and music appreciation.
A healthy community is one that uplifts you. It’s a space where you feel safe and valued, where empathy thrives, and support flows freely—especially in tough times. During the COVID pandemic, we witnessed remarkable examples of communities coming together, showing resilience, and lifting each other up.
**Choose Wisely**
However, it's important to recognize that not all communities foster positivity. If a group makes you feel less than positive, promotes hate or discrimination, or compromises your safety, it can harm your mental and emotional well-being.
At Empty Boxes, we strive to be a community that feels like home—a place where you can find the support you need.
We invite you to connect, share your journey, and be a part of our mission. Let’s cultivate a world where mental well-being is within everyone's reach.
Thank you for being here with us!
