Guided self help


This involves working through exercises and workbooks or an online course with support from a therapist. It equips people with tools for managing issues such as depression.


Talking Therapies

Talking therapies are conversations between a person and a trained professional and it focuses on improving mental health by challenging thoughts and emotions. The success of talking therapy largely depends on establishing a trust based relationship with the therapist.


Talking therapies can be conducted one on one or in groups, in person, online or over the phone and include:


  • Confidential discussions in a secure environment

  • Non-judgmental listening

  • Solutions to address the persons issues

  • Support in developing self-awareness, coping skills and well-being.


CBT

Cognitive behaviour therapy is a specific type of talking therapy that aims to help people alter their perceptions of their lives. It encourages moving away from negative thought patterns and behaviours. During sessions, people set goals with their therapist and work towards goals between appointments.

Interpersonal Therapy

IPT aims to enhance relationships with family and friends to help symptoms of depression and anxiety.


Counselling

This therapy provides support to those struggling with challenging situations.


Mindfulness-based Cognitive therapy

MBCT is meditation and mindfulness with CBT techniques, helping manage stress and anxiety.



Behavioural Activation

This approach can help lift mood by introducing pleasurable activities to clients, such as, social engagements, hobbies and physical exercise. It also teaches problem solving skills for future problems with depression.


Exercise and Physical Health


Engaging in physical exercise and maintaining good health will positively impact mood. Additionally, a good diet and support in decreasing alcohol consumption or quitting smoking can further enhance mental health.


Relaxation Therapies

Relaxation therapy will help people in calming their bodies and minds, which can be really helpful during stressful times. Types of relaxation techniques include, Breathing techniques, meditation and mindfulness.


Cognitive therapies

Cognitive therapies include artistic activities such as, dance, drama and music therapies.
